Organisations should view reflective forums as part of a layered strategy: combining promotion of positive culture, primary prevention of hazards, secondary interventions for early response and tertiary support for those harmed. Boards and executives have a role to play – the report emphasises leadership education, infrastructure reviews and capability building[31]. Maturity assessments help organisations evaluate their current controls and identify gaps across the hierarchy. They are also culture-dependent. In low-trust environments, uptake may be limited. However, consistent implementation can contribute to gradual cultural improvement (Grey et al., 2017).
Importantly, Schwartz Rounds function as a supporting control, not a primary one. ISO 45003 makes clear that psychosocial risks must be addressed through changes to how work is designed, managed, and supported.
